Top 3 Crafty Goals for 2020

1.     Learn new stitches!
    • I saw this online recently and fell in love! It is so beautiful for embroidering floral arrangements.
    • Okay, now, sheer embroidery is just gorgeous. This is my big goal for 2020. I don’t have the skills to do this yet, so I’m hoping I will be able to by the end of the year!

Embroidery on Quilting Fabric

I just finished a super fun short project! A while back I purchased fabric from JoAnns but never got around to using it. Well, I am glad I didn't!

The Spruce Crafts gave me a great idea to use a piece of quilting fabric and add embellishments by hand embroidering over the existing pattern.

I decided to only stitch over the pink, blue, and white elements.

To finish the project, I stitched white felt on the back to give it a more polished look. I added a little heart to give it a special touch. This was my first time to stitch the felt on so it isn't perfect, but does the trick!

I had hoped to post this piece on Etsy, but my girls fell in love with it and wanted it in their room. I have more of the fabric so I might make another!

Photo Embroidery: Daisy

Today I am working on embroidering an image of my puppy, Daisy. I have been working on it for a while, just picking it up in my spare time. I recently made a mistake causing the material to bunch, so now I will have to work on fixing it before I can move on.

This has been a really fun project because it is the first time I have tried to make my own pattern based on an actual photograph.
How To:

Step 1: Print a really good close up photo of the person/pet/object you want to stitch.

Step 2: Layer the material you want to use, black carbon transfer tracing paper, and the picture you want to transfer.

Step 3: Use a transfer pen to trace the image onto your material.

Step 4: Get stitching!

Welcome to Crafting With Britney

Hi everyone! My name is Britney and I love crafting…and baking, and just attempting to be creative in general!

My craft of choice these days is embroidery. I love stitching because it is such a soothing activity for me. However, I have Fibromyalgia (which causes widespread pain) and it can be tough on my hands at times. Ultimately, I believe it is a good choice for me because it gives me something to focus on when the pain or anxiety becomes too much.

Unfortunately, there are times I get pretty far into the project, realize I’ve messed up, and then just won’t pick it up for weeks because I’ve become so frustrated. I am hoping that this blog will help keep me accountable. I don’t want to continue having a stack of unfinished patterns hidden in the corner. I am going to be posting updates on my projects showing the progress, and, hopefully, the finished product!

If anyone struggles with finishing things like I do and needs that extra accountability, please share your progress in the comments!
